It’s no secret that I’m hard of hearing. I mention it on Tumblr and on my YouTube channel (but people on YouTube don’t read profiles so they keep on asking why I talk funny/talk awkward/sound retarded/if I got botox). Sometimes I need captions on videos. Sometimes I really don’t. 95% of the time, I can understand somebody in a YouTube video.
Now I always (or usually) say that captioning/subtitles isn’t really needed during a makeup tutorial because all you really need to do is look at what they’re doing and you’re good to go, but eh, sometimes it’s still nice to know what’s being said. I’ll admit it.
So……. yeah. I wanna try doing closed captioning on my videos from now on. Not the adding text to the video and saving it, but… actual captions, hah. The harder stuff. I don’t know how to do it at all but I’m gonna sit here and learn how to do this shit. I’m gonna do this with my next tutorial. It’s going to be a voiceover since my dad will be in the same room while I’m filming so it should be easier to work with since it will be shorter.
Ohhhh, let’s see if I can do this. Now I’ma make myself a little more unique in the beauty community. Yay, closed captioning!
'Cos I'm going through a name crisis/actual name change (well, not legal) right now so the Fred in fredmakeup needs to go. And makeupology was taken. So I took the “up” out and here is this new weird ass name.
Some people know this and some people don’t, but the last time I used my real name on Tumblr was years ago. Both in English spelling and Korean spelling (lawl it looks cool though). I’ve never liked my real name. It doesn’t suit me. Also, I have “mommy” issues. I have so much “mommy” issues that I use “mommy” in quotes. Yeah, years of physical and verbal abuse does that to you.
Changing names isn’t a new thing for me. Of course, when I chose my first nickname back in high school, it was really for shits and giggles. I don’t remember anyone calling me that in real life, hah. It was just a fun nickname on the side. I continued to go by my real name and didn’t have issues with it.
But last year, I started toying with the idea of changing my real f’real, online and in real life. Not legally or anything because I needed to get used to a name and I needed to make sure that the name fit me. Of course, I can’t just choose a name and think it fits automatically. I have to use it for a while. It’s been a year. And I’ve realized what I chose doesn’t suit me at all.
I’ve thought about it for a while. A long while.
I’ve thought about names and sure, I could use the new name right now. Why not? It’s totally easy changing names online especially when 98% of you don’t even use my name when you’re talking me. On Tumblr, Twitter, YouTube (probably 99% of people on YouTube don’t even know the name I used), etc. Real life wouldn’t necessarily be a problem because I don’t talk to people in real life, really. The only time I really do is when I’m hanging out with Bobby and Danny every once in a while. It’d be very easy to just use a new name when I’m introducing myself to somebody.
Facebook, however, could be a real problem. I’ve got some people that I know in real life that have known me by my real name for years. Of course, they’ve been on my list since I did the name change play a year ago. They’d still refer to me by my real name anyway because they were too much of an asshole to respect my wishes and just use what I asked them to use. I know that if I changed it again, I would most likely get shit some people. Some people wouldn’t give a damn because they just don’t care or they don’t talk to me very much at all and have never used my name. Some would just give me shit forever and still call me my real name, or start using the name I had picked last year just to grind my gears.
A year ago, Rem, who knows what I’m dealing with here, told me that it doesn’t matter if I wanted to change my name once a year, once a decade, or every day (although that’d be overkill and I definitely wouldn’t that that ever). I could change my name as many times as I want and it isn’t anyone’s business. People should still respect if I want them to call me something different.
But still, I don’t know. I went back to my real name on Facebook. I don’t like it. I don’t want people to call me what I chose. I don’t want people to call me my real name. I want to use the name I choose right now, but…
I don’t know.
This involves me. Thought I’d give people a head’s up.
I’ve never used Sigma before (it’s because the hype was annoying the shit out of me), but I’m really thinking of trying one of the precision brushes for undereye concealer because my finger makes Benefit Erase Paste look so bad under my eyes. I’m just… not sure which one to go for. I’m stuck between the P82 (round) and P86 (tapered). I looked on Leesha’s website and it’s not helping me. I’m confused! Hahaha. Help?
I got this comment on my YouTube channel page from a guy from OkCupid that subscribed to me five days ago. He’s mad because he apparently sent me a message days ago, I didn’t respond (why would I when you’re my enemy by 99%?), so he left me another message with “Too good to chat, eh? Hate on.” and yeeeah, haha. I checked my channel page and saw that comment.
I think he’s a little butthurt.
I’ll keep my awesome hobby and I don’t need speech therapy. I’ve been speaking just fine for 18 years (or however long it’s been since I said my first word) so I’m doing just fine. Just ‘cos I have an accent different than yours does not mean I need to go get some speech therapy.
I know that we all love this site as an expression of our individuality, but the fact of the matter is, we are under attack. And what we do is distracting us from that fact.
The American government now has all the records from Megaupload’s servers. Do you know what that means for you? That means that if you have ever used Megaupload, the government has your fucking number. And they will come for you.
You doubt what I’m saying? The government has been after Jamie Rasset, a single mother, now for years for $1.9 MILLION for downloading 24 songs from Kazaa. She’s been appealing, and they’re still coming after her.
$1.9 MILLION. FOR 24 LOUSY SONGS. And they will not let off.
Now look at your music folder. How many songs do you have? How many movies, how many books? It’s going to cost you $150,000 for EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL. How much are you going to be out?
And you can’t escape it. Even if you claim bankruptcy, you can’t escape it. They’ll toss you in jail because you can’t pay.
So no matter what you do, you. Are. FUCKED.
And this is your call to arms. This is when you stand up. I don’t care if you’re a kawaii blog, a grunge blog, a nerd blog, a pony blog. It doesn’t matter what you post. Because I am calling on you to get this word out. Think it doesn’t affect you? Just wanna bury your head in the sand? Fine. Guess what? The government doesn’t care how much you ignore it.
In fact, they’re counting on it. Because if you ignore it, it makes it so much easier for them to come after you.
You cannot hide from the government, because they will hunt you down like a rabid animal. And in ignoring this, you are CONDONING THEIR ACTIONS.
Imagine this, for a moment. You go to a website, enjoy their content. You link it to your blog. But the site you linked has copyrighted material. I hope you’re ready to land in jail. Because it’s already happened. Richard O’Dwyer, A UK RESIDENT, is in the process of being extradited to the US for doing just that: LINKING TO COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL.
Look at all those gifs you have, all the ones you’ve posted. Starting to realize how this is going to affect you? Everything you have on your computer that’s copyrighted, everything you’ve ever posted that’s now on the tumblr servers, if those are seized, becomes evidence. Anything you ever linked to on Facebook, evidence, because it’s there permanently. Even deleting it does no good, because it’s still there on the server.
If you’re still not convinced this is going to affect you, goddess, I envy your ignorance. Because the fact of the matter is, they will come after you for this, eventually. It may not be today, it may not be tomorrow, but it will happen.
You need to make your voice heard.
If you are a musician, use your voice and your music to speak up.
Artists, paint the world with the word of this injustice.
Bloggers, writers, anyone with any access to social media, SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS.
WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS INJUSTICE TO STAND. WE CANNOT GO SILENTLY. I AM CALLING ON ALL OF YOU NOW TO MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!
I AM CALLING ON ALL OF YOU TO TAKE 5 MINUTES OUT OF YOUR DAY AND SPEAK YOUR MIND. LET IT ALL OUT. SAY WHAT YOU REALLY THINK! If we’re all fucked, and this is coming down on our heads, THEN GET THE WORD OUT NOW!
WE CANNOT BE DIVIDED BY OUR DIFFERENCES ANY LONGER.
WE CANNOT ALLOW THEM TO SILENCE US.
WE CANNOT AND WILL NOT ALLOW THIS TO STAND. BECAUSE WE ARE THE VOICE OF THE WORLD!
That’s right, you. The person reading this right now. Think of it. Millions of voices from around the world, all speaking out, singing the same song in perfect harmony, saying WE WILL NOT BE SILENT IN THE FACE OF THIS OPPRESSION.
Because they want your information. They want you to be complacent, a happy little sheep in their giant corral. Because the more sedate you are, the easier it is to slowly steal your rights until you’re nothing but a mindless automaton, another cog in the machine.
And do you really want that? Do you want the reality of Huxley and Orwell to come to light, Big Brother watching our every move, monitoring our spending and our viewing habits, coming down like the Sword of Damocles hanging over your head, barely there, only a hair holding it up from swinging down and taking you?
Or do you want to be the ones to wield the power? Do you want to be the ones saying “NO. WE BROUGHT YOU HERE, WE CAN OUST YOU!”
If there is one thing I’ve learned over the past year, it is that the people have power. Look at Egypt, at Libya. The people took back the power, and it changed things. They stood up to their government and affected change, because they stood up as a UNITED FRONT!
And that, my dear Tumblrers, is what I ask of you. Reblog this if you can’t think of the words to say. Say it with music that you love, with your own message attached. Make a gif if it’s your form of expression.
BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON’T JUST SIT THERE AND DO NOTHING. It doesn’t matter how old you are, or where you live. It doesn’t matter what race, what religion, what gender you are, or your orientation. It doesn’t matter if your blog only covers certain subjects.
Because soon, the way things are going, this will all be gone if we don’t fight.
The internet, as we know it, will no longer exist.
There will be no more free media. No more access to the television shows you love so much. No more free access to music. No more free articles on the latest fashions, or the latest trends. No, this will all be gone, replaced by whatever the government sees fit.
So please, PLEASE, if you love the internet, if you love your fandom, your fashion, your gifs, your music, your movies, your facebook, your twitter, your blog, your anything that you get from the net, MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD.
I’ll close this essay with a poem that truly does fit, for all of you that don’t believe this will affect you. I’m changing it a bit to better fit the subject matter of this essay/rant/plea:
First they came for the downloaders, and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a downloader.
Then they came for the youtubers, and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a youtuber.
Then they came for the bloggers, and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a blogger.
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a social networker.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.
Thank you for your time. Goodnight, my fellow tumblrers. I hope to continue seeing you for a long time to come…If not, it was an honor blogging with you all. And ask yourself this: If they come for you, how will you feel knowing you could have helped to prevent this if you’d just spoken up in the first place?
I realize that this is not a good photo but it’s the best I got. I took many photos outside in different areas but they all turned out horribly. So I gave up. And now here’s a photo of me in the Barnes and Noble bathroom, ha!

Here’s a new thing~ I’m adding to my blog. There are lots of things I’ll have my eye on but I’ll end up forgetting about them since I don’t write them down. So hey, in order to remember, why not make a wishlist on my blog? Chances are, later on, I’ll end up not wanting them anymore but that’s okay. I’ll just take it off the list. If I happen to purchase something on my wishlist, I’ll cross it out.

Freddie, what the fuck is bhcosmetics Wednesdays?!
On May of 2011, I bought the second edition of the bhcosmetics 120 palette because of two reasons: 1) I needed a variety of bright colours for tutorials and 2) they were raved about for months. So when they had the Memorial Day sale, I took the bait.
But… I really haven’t used it very much since. I eventually was not impressed with the shadows. Chalky, powdery, yada yada. So I stopped using it and I’ve been letting it collect dust because it’s one of those makeup items I don’t want to put up for swap because it’d probably be pricey. I mean, it’s much heavier than a Too Faced palette I swapped in the past.
So instead of letting it collect dust and go to waste, I decided I’d pick at least one day a week and I’ll be doing my makeup looks with this. I’m not making myself use just this for an entire eye look (I really dislike the white eyeshadows) but for the most part… yeah. I’ve been swatching some colours and I think I’ve got a good idea of which ones I want to use.
So… I guess since I’m pretty much forcing myself to use this palette at least once a week, maybe I’ll end up liking this. I highly doubt it will become a favourite, but there’s a chance it won’t stay at the bottom of my list.
Please ignore that anon. You're so good at makeup! Why would I feature you on thetumblrbeautyblog if you weren't? Please keep submitting things. Your looks are so amazing!
Oh, I’ll definitely keep submitting!
My only makeup issue for me, personally, is the fact that my eyeshadow does look uneven sometimes. But… well, my lids look completely different and my eyes aren’t aligned, so… not my fault! LOL I work with what I got!
